Obituary of Eugene Owens

Eugene Owens Sr., 81, of Pocono Pines, died on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at the Gino J. Merli Veterans Center in Scranton. He was the loving husband of the late Rosemarie (Karas) Owens, to whom he shared 53 years of marriage. Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Robert and Stella (Cyack) Owens. Eugene was a Veteran of the United States Air Force and served overseas in Vietnam. He was a former member of the Lion's Club, American Legion Post 413 and the VFW post 509 in Tobyhanna. He is survived by his four sons: Eugene Owens Jr., Raymond Owens and Timothy Owens all of Pocono Pines and Anthony Owens of San Antonio, Texas, his daughter: Patricia Owens of Wayne, NJ, brother: Thomas Owens of Moscow, a sister: Marie Addeo of Scranton, seven: grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Owens Jr, Edward Owens, Daniel Owens and William Owens. There will be a viewing from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Monday, January 27, at the Bolock Funeral Home, 6148 Paradise Valley Road, Cresco. The Reverend Father Gregory Loughney will conduct a blessing service at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville, Pa.
