Obituary of Charles Meister

Charles J. Meister, 83, of Cresco, died on Friday, May 2, 2014 at his home. He was the loving husband of Virginia (Perrone) Meister. Born in Manhattan, N.Y., he was the son of the late Charles and Rose (Risavy) Meister. A veteran of the United States Navy, Charles served during the Korean War and worked as a Merchant Marine. He was employed by OSHA as a Regional Administrator based out of Newark, until his retirement in 1985. He lived in Montclair for 48 years. He and his wife were active ushers for the Unity Series for 30+ years. In 2011, he and his wife moved to Cresco, to be closer to family. In addition to his wife, Virginia, he is survived by his son and his wife: Drs. Chris and Debbie Meister, and their children, Julia and Evan. There is a graveside service Thursday, May 8, at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, N.Y.
