Obituary of Paul Mahoney II
Paul Thomas Mahoney II, 21, of South Sterling, passed away on Thursday, October 11, at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, surrounded by his family who loved him dearly. Paul died from complications of Ehlers Danlos Syndrome.
Born in East Stroudsburg, he was the son of Paul and Mary (O'Rourke) Mahoney.
He was very well cared for by the doctors and staff of University of Pennsylvania Hospital, Thomas Jefferson Hospital, and Pocono Medical Center. His family was cared for by family, friends and the Ronald McDonald House while they cared for him.
Paul was a 2005 graduate of Wallenpaupack Area High School and attended Johnson College in Scranton. He majored in Precision Machining and he looked forward to graduating in June of 2008. Paul was employed as a CNC Operator (machinist) at Hooke Machine Company in Canadensis. He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church in Newfoundland, where he served as an altar server. Paul's favorite time of year was Halloween. Paul was an adventurer and led an adventurous life seizing every opportunity. His motto was live N.O.W. no opportunity wasted.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother and sister, Michael D. Mahoney and Colleen F. Mahoney both of South Sterling; paternal grandmother, Frances Mahoney of Hackettstown, New Jersey; maternal grandparents, Ronald and Sylvia O'Rourke of Williams Township; and maternal grandmother, Joan O'Rourke of Philipsburg, New Jersey. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Thomas John Mahoney. Paul also has many aunts, uncles and cousins that were all a big part of his life. He was also blessed with many very good friends who were always there for him.
The Reverend Father Robert T. Busteed will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 15 at St. Anthony of Padua in Newfoundland. Family and friends are asked to go directly to the church for Mass on Monday at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
There will be a viewing from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 14 at the Bolock Funeral Home, corner of Routes 940 & 390 in Paradise Valley.
