My Dear Uncle Norman, I have missed you much already and now will miss you always. From the time when I was little at our family gatherings, you always took time out to play with us kids; laughing as much as you made us giggle. And now whenever I’m in the woods awaiting that large rack to walk into view, I hear your holler from far off, hopefully driving the deer in our direction. And although it’s not the big one, when it’s brown and down, hearing your “it’s meat on the table” and your pat on the shoulder on a shot well made. With every cast of my Musky Killer through the clear cold waters of the Northwoods I feel your anticipation of that giant Northern Pike to break the water and give chase. And though my garden will never be as fine as yours, I know you will be there with a guiding hand. You may be gone from this earth physically but your presence will forever be with me. My Dear Brother Norman, I am so saddened by your passing but know that you are in a better place and resting peacefully. My sincere regrets that I am physically unable to be there to comfort your family during this grievous time but know that I am there in thoughts and prayers with you all. I have always appreciated your brotherly love and have never taken your kind gestures and favors for granted. There was never anything too big or too small that though you were nearly physically incapable of due to your ailments, you wouldn’t do to try and help me out. Whenever I needed you, you were always there for me. You were not only the man of your household but the man in mine as well for many years. And though you were busy you always made time for a quick visit when you would come by and plow snow and had much more to do. The warmth of family ties seemed always to warm your heart. I remember fondly the large family gatherings at my house in Scotrun with our families and mutual friends and the much laughter shared by all. I know in my heart that you and I shared a special bond as brother and sister, and know that we will meet again someday. In the meantime, keep trying to catch that big one.
