Obituary of Dario Belardi

Dario R. Belardi, 72, of Swiftwater, died on Wednesday, November 24 at the VNA Hospice House of Monroe County in East Stroudsburg. He was the husband of Barbara ( Henzes ) Belardi. Born in Jessup, he was the son of the late Giuseppe and Camilla (Mengoni) Belardi. He graduated from Blakely High School and attended Penn State University and the University of Scranton. Dario was the Executive Vice President of Caesar's Pocono Resorts from 1976 to 1991. He owned and operated Dario's Brass Door Restaurant at Pocono Manor. In 1993, he founded Pocono Limousine Service, which is currently operated by his children. He served on numerous charitable boards including the United Way, the Pocono Mountain Vacation Bureau, and the Pocono Mountain Chamber of Commerce. Dario was also an advocate for St. Jude Children's Hospital and served on many fund raising committees for that charity. He also served on the Hotel and Restaurant Advisory Board at East Stroudsburg University. Dario was a member of St. Mary of the Mount Church in Mt. Pocono. In addition to his wife, Barbara, he is survived by a son, Dario Belardi, Jr. of Swiftwater; a daughter, Lisa Ambrose and her husband, Mark of Henryville; a sister, Dolores Hanyon and husband, Gino Millazzo of Naples, Florida; and five grandchildren, Brandon, Austin, Casey Belardi, Emma Ambrose and Mark Ambrose, Jr. There will be a viewing on Monday, November 29 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the Bolock Funeral Home, corner of 940 & 390 in Cresco. The Reverend Father Joseph Kopacz will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, November 30 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary of the Mount Church, 27 Fairview Avenue in Mt. Pocono. Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery in Jessup. The family of Dario Belardi would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at VNA Hospice for their compassionate care.
